Appearance: L stands at about 5'10, has messy black hair and dark grey eyes. For the most part he remains barefoot, but he will wear shoes without socks when he ventures outdoors. L also has circles under his eyes, probably from the limited amount of sleep he allows himself to have. They get darker as the series progresses, showing exactly what kind of toll the Kira investigation took on him. L prefers to wear a white long sleeved shirts and jeans for both appearance sake and for comfort. He seems to take to slouching as he stands, and sitting at a crouch or with his knees in front of him. He remains at a lower height than everyone else around him as it contributes to a meek, non-threatening appearance. He is dangerously underweight, but it is very unlikely that without his clothes he is as scrawny and sickly seeming as he makes himself appear to be. Due to his mastery of Capoeira, he has to have some muscle on him so I am certain he is hiding that. Special abilities/talents: L is a super genius detective who specializes in hacking, watching and comprehending multiple screens at once, criminal psychology, forensics, analysis, profiling, statistics, and interrogation. He is also capable of noticing small details that people generally miss. And considering L's his dealings with various countries, he would more than likely be fluent in at least 5 major world languages and familiar with others. L has also mastered Capoeira. Though mastery doesn't mean he is experienced. Very likely, if he does end up having to resort to having to fight, he'd get his ass handed to him by someone with more experience fighting. But hopefully not without doing a little damage first if this ability comes to a surprise to his attacker. He also is a great tennis player. I believe that he actually held back in his game against Light, my reasoning for this is simply due to the condition he appears to be in after the end of the match. Light appears to be on the verge of dying while L looks like he is up for a few more rounds. All the while, he was wearing clothes that were not suited for the game. L is capable of flying a helicopter, which is something he said he learned how to do just by reading a book. Considering how quickly he picked this skill up, as well as Capoeira, I believe his learning speed needs to have some slight adjustment as it isn't fair to have a character learn as fast as he cannonly does, nor is it realistic. I will say that he is an extremely very fast learner due to the level of concentration, thought, and observation he applies, but I will not have him master things instantly. In addition to all of this, he has absolute control over his emotions and facial expressions, which makes it difficult for people to read him. Quirks: L holds things delicately, which is likely a habit he developed for handling evidence. He has a tendency to stack things, and has a habit of chewing on his nails or running his fingers against his lips when in thought. L also has a fondness for sweets as it appears as though that is all he ever eats. His beverage of choice tends to be coffee and black tea which he adds copious amounts of sugar to. Personality: L's actions are based on reason rather than emotion, which is why some consider him to be cold or uncaring. He isn't deprived of emotions entirely though, they just tend to take a back seat to business. He has to remain calm and collected at all times because that is what is required of him to perform well in the role he has taken. All of his beliefs and personal opinions are mostly irrelevant. He also is a little paranoid when it comes to people. He doesn't trust others very easily and is constantly testing those around him to see where their loyalties lie. People to him are essentially tools. He would prefer using them over befriending them and avoiding any attachment to them whatsoever. It is because of this distrust that he doesn't exactly open up to people. That and he doesn't see any point in it anyway. The less who know of him the safer he is. He isn't exactly yielding of information either. L often uses games, challenges, tricks and lies against his opponents in order to get them to slip up and back them into a corner. He also seems to like pressing people's buttons in order to get a reaction out of them. He will resort to any means necessary to win and has a reputation for being the best and always succeeding so he is very prideful and has a high opinion of himself. He is also tenacious. Once he reaches a conclusion about something, he doesn't let go. Sexual orientation: Bisexual. I don't think he has much interest in sex thoughm as it would mean him being momentarily weak, which is not something he would allow himself to be. His job essentially took priority over all things. There is no room in his life to be attracted to another person, and even if he did find himself attracted, he would know better than to engage in a relationship as with him there is a chance that the individual would end up being a liability to him. This is also why he has difficulty just making friends. All people have to be expendable to him. The only reason he might show interest is if there was something he could gain from it. Reputation: Prior to the Kira investigation, L was not exactly a publicly known figure. It was when he issued his challenge to him that he became known worldwide. Still, even after that, he remained fairly reclusive which allowed many to make speculations about him, even to the point where some thought that L was Kira himself. Most major authorities around the world knew of him prior to that based on the fact that he often found himself working with them. He was essentially a mysterious person who communicated with them through either the phone, computer, or Watari. No one knew what he actually looked like. His identity was always hidden behind the letter he used to signify himself 'L', and his voice was always scrambled. Based on Naomi's reaction to being contacted by him in Another Note, the FBI was well aware of the fact that he did not take kindly to those who impersonate him. She stated that she had heard many horror stories about what happened to those who attempted to do so. I doubt L would typically go as far as to kill those who did such an act, but very likely he ruined their lives. His known requirements in order to take a case were based on interest, wealth, or death toll. | |||||||||
